Update ~ Good News!
The gentleman at work yesterday is completely fine. He was up last night watching the All Star games. Thank God for answering prayers and helping all of us do our jobs so that he is now doing well!

A Rough Day Made Better
Today was definitely a rough day at work. As many of you know, I work at a local gym. I work in the pool, which is on the first floor, and there is a track on the second floor. A member from the gym had a heart attack (or something) and fell/passed out while running on the track. By the time my supervisor and I found out about what was going on and got upstairs, paramedics and fire rescue had already arrived. It was very touch and go for a while but they did eventually get a pulse before taking him away. One of the employees had begun CPR. All staff responded correctly and there were a few other members who were really helpful. We were just all very shaken up afterward. Hopefully he'll be ok.
This all happened at the beginning of my shift at work today and I had three hours of swim lessons. To say the least, I didn't really want to be there at that point. All I wanted to do was go home and do nothing. Fortunately, I was able to do that after my lessons were over. Shortly after I got home, I was also able to talk to A online for a little while. That always makes me feel better, especially since it had been a couple days since we spoke. Then I took at nap. Once I got up, my roomie and I went and got ice cream for dinner! Definitely didn't make me feel better as far as health but boy was it delicious :-) Now it's time to try to get some sleep. Unfortunately though, every time I close my eyes I just picture what happened earlier today. :-/

Please Tell Me This Is The End...and I Want It Wednesday
For the past 2 years, before starting school full time in the fall, I taught 1st grade. I absolutely loved my job and the people that I worked with. However, I wanted to get my master's and if I was going to do it, this was the time! Well...I just found out that the father of one of the other first grade teachers passed away this evening. This is the third person that I "know" who has passed away in the past week. Is it over now? I know it's important to see that people who have left us are in a better place now and to celebrate their life. However, I just can't do it all the time...especially when one of them was only 31 years old. I hate seeing people sad, and for that matter...being sad myself. So I guess that I will be heading to Newport News again this weekend to spend some time with my past coworkers and be there for my friend. I love you Susan, stay strong! Your father was a wonderful man but I am glad that he is now out of pain and spending time with our Savior!
Now...time to try to be happy! What do I want this week, you ask? Hmmm...I want to go to the movies with some friends. These are some of the movies which I would like to see:

I still really want to see this...but there's a part of me that isn't sure if I can take watching it right now! So we'll see what happens.

I just think this would be a good laugh. I mean really...The Tooth Fairy
I never got to see this when it first came out and really wanted to. It is apparently still in some theaters so I hope to either see it soon or rent/buy it once it comes out! I've only heard good things and it seems like a great story!

Adrenaline Takes Over
I know this is my second post for the day, but this is something I wanted to write about yesterday but hadn't and then didn't today either. And I still need to write about my second award and hopefully I'll get to that tomorrow.
But for now...have you ever had something happen where adrenaline just kicks in and takes over and you really don't know what exactly you are doing because you just react? ...
Well that definitely happened to me yesterday morning at work. I work at a local gym as a lifeguard. We have certain hours where the parents can drop off their kids so that they can go workout. And yesterday morning, I had about 10 childen that I was watching in the pool (school was canceled due to snow...so the place was crazy!). 2 of the children were brother (age 4) and sister (6). Mom had said neither of them needed life jackets. The little guy wanted a kickboard so he was just swimming around with that. Next thing I know, he looses the kickboard, panics, and grabs onto his sister, who cannot stand because the water is 4 feet deep. Of course they were in the middle of the pool, so about 5 feet from the side, therefore I could not grab them for the side. Also, he was holding onto her so he wasn't going to grab the rescue tube. So, what do I do? JUMP IN (of course) fully clothed. Of course at this moment I have my work shirt on, shorts, flippy floppies, AND sweatpants because I had been cold. Like an idiot, I had not taken off my sweatpants before sitting and watching the kids. Mom was upstairs (there's windows looking into the pool) and saw everything that happened. She fortunately got there right when I got the kids to the side because they were hysterical. He got back in once his older sister joined him. However, the little girl was terrified. I tried to tell her that I was already wet and would get in with her, but nothing would get her in yesterday. Mom was planning to bring her back today and get in with her, so I hope she did. It just wasn't worth pushing her to get in yesterday but I don't want her to be too scared to ever swim again. Mom felt so bad about what had happened and for me having to get in with all my clothes on, but fortunately a coworker was right there and saw it and she got me some towels, a new shirt, and stuck my pants in the dryer. So by the time I had to leave an hour later, in the snow, I wasn't freezing to death! I guess that's what happened. I don't know. I wasn't really sure what was going on at the time because I just reacted. I didn't really think about it, I just did what my body and mind told me to do. Now that I went off into WAY detail about what happened I think that's basically it.
But my question is still...have you ever had a situation like that where your body and mind just take over, you look back and kind of wonder what happened?
